Side-by-sides and UTVs

The side-by-side trail map that checks your width

A side-by-side can be 50 inches wide or a lot wider, and trails are split by width. Save yours with its width and HuntGrid Offroad colours each route by what its official source says for it.

How it works

  • Tell it what you ride

Answer “What do you ride?”: a side-by-side and its width, no make or model needed. It keeps your machine in a garage that syncs to all your devices.

  • See the map for your machine

Each road and trail is coloured by what its official source says for your machine: open, seasonal, limited, closed or unknown.

  • On the day you ride

Set the map to today, this weekend or any date, and seasonal routes follow it. Tap a route for its rule, its dates and its source.

HuntGrid Offroad on a phone: the trails a 48-inch ATV may use are closed to the rider’s 64-inch side-by-side.

Over or under 50 inches

Same trail, different answer by width

The US Forest Service’s Motor Vehicle Use Maps split off-highway vehicles at 50 in (127 cm): trails “for vehicles 50 inches or less in width” are open to a machine up to 50 in (127 cm), and not to a wider one. Some Michigan ORV routes allow machines up to 65 in (165 cm) or 72 in (183 cm).

  • Up to 50 in (127 cm), your side-by-side rides the trails for ATVs 50 inches or less. Wider, it rides the routes open to wider off-highway vehicles.
  • Where a route has a width limit, like Michigan’s 65-inch and 72-inch ORV routes, the card says whether yours fits.
  • Two side-by-sides in the garage? Switch with one tap and the map redraws for the one you’re taking.

Questions

Still have a question? Read the HuntGrid Offroad help pages or email support@huntgrid.net.

Is the side-by-side trail map free?

Yes. Everything on this page is in the free plan, with no credit card. HuntGrid Offroad is in open beta, and there are never ads on the map or in Ride Mode.

My side-by-side is 64 inches. Which trails can I use?

Save it with its width and the map shows it: routes open to off-highway vehicles wider than 50 inches as open or seasonal, the trails for machines 50 in (127 cm) or less as closed to it. A route whose source doesn’t rule on wide machines shows as unknown.

Is a green trail a promise I can ride it?

No. It’s what the official data says for your machine on that date. Where no official source covers a route, it shows as unknown rather than a guess. Official maps and posted signs control, and closures can happen at any time.
