The best hunting app in Canada
Most hunting apps were built for US public land. Hunting in Canada is different: Crown land, provincial units and zones, legal land descriptions on the Prairies, long drives past the last cell tower, and in Quebec and New Brunswick, French. Here’s what to look for, and how HuntGrid handles each one.

What to look for
Crown land, with parks on top
Crown land across most of Canada, with parks and protected areas on top and the rule for each kind of land where it’s been verified. When HuntGrid isn’t sure, it says “unknown”, never “open”.
WMUs and zones
Wildlife management units and zones in most provinces, so you know which unit you’re standing in.
Prairie legal land descriptions
The section, quarter and LSD grid in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and BC’s Peace River Block: type “NW-12-34-5-W4” to go there, or tap to read it.
Who to ask on private land
Parcel outlines in BC, New Brunswick and Yukon, and a link to the province’s land titles registry where permission may be needed.
Also on the map
Works with no signal
Most hunting country in Canada has no cell service. Download your areas with topo, land, your pins and the forecast before you go.
Canadian weather
Environment Canada forecasts, live wind at weather stations, radar, alerts, wildfires, smoke and Canada’s fire danger rating.
Wind and scent
A scent cone from your stand hour by hour, and the best stand for today’s wind.
Free, one price for all of Canada
Every layer and tool is in the free plan, and there are never per-province fees.
By province
What HuntGrid shows in the provinces hunters ask about most:
Best hunting app for Ontario
WMUs, unpatented Crown land and provincial air photos.
Best hunting app for Alberta
WMUs, draw areas, the ATS land grid and Public Land Use Zones.
Best hunting app for British Columbia
WMUs and LEH zones, Crown land and ParcelMap BC outlines.
Quebec hunting map
ZECs, wildlife reserves and outfitters on Quebec public land.
HuntGrid is a guide, not the law: the official hunting regulations of your province always have the final word.
Questions

What is the best hunting app in Canada?
The one that shows Canadian land and units, works with no signal and fits how you hunt. HuntGrid was built for Canada and the US: Crown land, WMUs and zones in most provinces, the Prairie land grid, Environment Canada weather and offline maps, free and in French.
Does HuntGrid show Crown land?
Yes, across most of Canada, with parks and protected areas on top. Tap a spot to see its land type, the rule where it’s been verified, and the source. Crown land isn’t open everywhere: check the provincial regulations.
Is HuntGrid free?
Yes. The free plan has every map layer and tool, with 3 offline areas, 100 MB for photos and voice notes and up to 3 groups of your own. Paid options planned for later will be one price for everywhere.
Does HuntGrid work in French?
Yes. The whole app, this site and every email are in English and Canadian French.
Is there an app in the App Store or Google Play?
Not yet. HuntGrid runs in the browser on iPhone, Android and computers and installs to your home screen from there.
